Bernie Van Tiel is a female Beatboxer, rapper, dancer, singer/songwriter and MC. She often uses these talents in her hosting career which has spanned across 7 years. Initially getting a taste at her local performing arts events during senior high school, her charisma and personality propelled her to the glass house in Port Macquarie, where she MC’d and performed for the Talent Identification Program (TIP). From there, she was hand selected by the Talent Development Project (TDP), a prestigious performing arts program, to hone her talents and develop her budding career as an MC. It wasn’t long until she was co-hosting alongside John Foreman (musical director of Australian Idol, X-Factor), for her own graduation ceremony in 2013.
Seeing many opportunities in Sydney, she moved to pursue the arts further. Utilising her unique beatboxing skills, she landed a place as a judge and showcase artist at the Australian Beatbox Championships in 2014. Seeing there was limited categories for females to compete, Bernie (aka BVT) thought, “why not run it?” And so, became the face of Beatbox Australia (BBA). From 2015 to present day, BVT has been proudly hosting BBA championships and Sydney beatbox Royales ever since.
Adding to her experience, Bernie has also been the face and host of World Supremacy Battlegrounds (WSB), the biggest and best hip hop dance competition in the Southern Hemisphere. Beginning in 2014, and active til present. WSB has also brought her around Australia, hosting in different states, and globally, hosting in the Philippines. Following her love for music, she has also been the host of Urban Star, a music competition which has been the foundations and starting points for many well recognised artists such as Iggy azalea (Female rap sensation for “fancy” and AGT judge), Jai Waterford, William Singe(Viral FB music sensation now signed to interscope) and Cyrus Mill (X-Factor winner 2017).
It is evident BVT leaves her mark on every stage she steps on, and has a deep love for the arts. She has hosted many major events, and has also been the MC for many charities, school events and board of studies dinner galas. With many years experience and a genuine love and passion for what she does, Bernie Van Tiel is an MC and performer you’ll never forget.
