Warwick Young

Warwick Young is a multi-award winning Australian filmmaker. A native of Queensland Warwick completed a Bachelor of Applied Science at Queensland University of Technology before he trained as an actor at the University of Southern Queensland. In 2013 Warwick completed his Masters in Directing at the Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) and was awarded the prestigious European Union Film Award upon graduation.

In 2014 he completed his film 'Stuffed' which gained Warwick an Australian Directors Guild Award nomination and has screened in official competition in many international and Academy accredited film festivals, including the 2014 UK Film Festival where it won 'Best Film' in it’s category; the Dendy Awards at the 2014 Sydney Film Festival, the 59th Valladolid International Film Festival; the 2015 Flickerfest International Film Festival; the 2015 39th Cleveland International Film Festival; the 2015 Down Under Berlin Film Festival for which Warwick won the 'Rising Talent Award'; the Antipodes program of the 2015 Cannes Film Festival; was runner up for the Nicolas Baudin Prize for 'Best Short Film' at the 2015 Saint-Tropez Film Festival; won 'Best Foreign Film' at the 2016 Beverly Hills Film Festival; and Warwick was also nominated for a 2017 Best New Filmmakers LA Award.

In 2012 Warwick wrote and directed the short films 'Reconciliation' and 'Refuge'. 'Reconciliation' was a finalist in the 2014 Peninsula Short Film Festival. In 2007 Warwick wrote, directed and produced his first film 'U-Turn', which won several awards when screening at multiple international film festivals.

As an actor Warwick’s film credits include 'Wolverine', 'Superman Returns', 'The Great Raid' and 'Beneath Hill 60'. Warwick’s television drama and tele-movie credits include 'All Saints', 'Small Claims', 'Water Rats', 'Sea Patrol', 'Rescue Special Ops', 'Rake' and most recently 'Carlotta' for the ABC and the 'The Killing Field' for the 7 Seven Network.

Most recently Warwick completed a Director’s Attachment on the Goalpost Films production of the Foxtel Mini-series 'Fighting Season'. He is currently developing several feature film projects including a feature version of his award winning short film 'Stuffed'; an adaptation of the critically acclaimed stageplay 'Brilliant Monkey'; and 'Banshee' a horror story based on Irish folklore.
